Description:
The schedule would be on-site, M-F approx. 6am to 2:30pm (with some variation/flexibility.) We are seeking a full time, 40 hr/wk person for approximately 3 to 4 months.
• This advanced professional classification has the primary role of diagnostician and treatment provider.
• The ARNP will assess a broad spectrum of human illnesses, abnormalities, and health maintenance problems to provide:
• Education appropriate to the patients' level of health literacy.
• Referrals to other health professionals as indicated.
• The ARNP must be patient-centered and use principles of trauma informed care in the delivery of health care.
• They will deliver care and education in collaboration with other health care team members, while following evidencedbase practice.
• The ARNP may contribute to the daily management and clinic operation.
• The ARNP will assure the delivery of quality healthcare and education to those seeking services.
• Instructs other nurses and paraprofessionals in the clinic area in diagnostic, counseling, and referral techniques to ensure the quality of nursing care.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
• The ARNP works independently with the support of clinic physicians and the Medical Director.
• The ARNP is responsible to perform physical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment functions.
• The ARNP may provide primary health care to clients on an independent basis.
• Nursing knowledge and ability to use independent judgment is at higher clinical levels, allowing them to function as an independent medical practitioner.
Essential Functions:
• Act as a primary health care professional for outpatient clinic.
• Obtain extensive health and medical history, both general and specific, including family history, psychosocial/ developmental histories and cultural information using patient centered, trauma informed care, etc.
• Identify actual and potential health needs based on medical, behavioral, financial, and social factors.
• Perform thorough physical examinations to include a complete head-to-toe physical exam.
• This includes evaluation of neurologic and psychiatric status, cranial nerve exam, evaluation of eyes, ears, nose and oropharynx, lymph nodes, thyroid, breast, skin, auscultation of circulatory and respiratory systems, palpation of abdomen, extremities, and male and female genitourinary exams.
• The ARNP may perform procedures within their scope of practice to include to incision and drainage of abscess, placement of long-acting reversible contraception, removal of foreign body, sample collection, etc.
• Diagnosis and management of substance use disorders, diagnosis of general medical and psychiatric conditions with appropriate referrals.
• Develop and implement a treatment plan.
• Oversee the treatment plan throughout treatment.
• Manage cases from inception to termination.
• Refer cases to physicians and health paraprofessionals for conditions outside the scope of authority to diagnose or treat. Consult directly with one or more physicians regarding diagnosis and care-management problems as needed.
• Refer to community partners, collaborate with care team, other healthcare providers and community resources, health promotion and education.
• Perform and/ or interpret appropriate ancillary testing including basic blood work (CBC, CMP, etc.), sexually transmitted infection testing and monitoring, toxicology screening and confirmation testing, methadone trough level, electrocardiograms, other indicated testing, etc.
• Prescription of medications based on current evidence.
• Education of purpose and intended outcome of the use of medications in terms appropriate to the patients' level of health literacy.
• Document in Electronic Health Record to collect, record, and analyze data.
• Participate in daily clinic operations. Actively participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of responsibility area.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and feedback to clinic staff to support a high-performance clinic that focuses on quality and safe patient care. Instruct other nurses and paraprofessionals in the program/clinic area in diagnostic, counseling, and referral techniques to ensure the quality of nursing care.
• Analyze and review federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, and procedures in order to ensure compliance. Conduct analysis on best practices and trends and formulate recommendations.
• Ensure quality of professional practice by practicing within professional, legal, and ethical standards and by participating in and providing continuing education, peer review, chart review, development of practice guidelines and community work.
Collaborate with Program Manager and Medical Director to:
• Annually review and revise standards of care based on the current evidence.
• Participate in peer reviews to assure a high level of skills among other nurse practitioners.
• Participate in educational meetings as available and appropriate.
• Audit records to ensure appropriate data collection and documentation and evaluate the care provided by other staff members.
• Ensure staff meet quality assurance standards through educating, monitoring and providing consultation to staff as appropriate.

Work Setting:
• Your office will provide personal safety, including physical distancing, screening, sanitation, disinfection, and masks.
• Work is performed almost exclusively indoors in an office environment.
• Exposure to hazards is limited to those commonly found in government office environments.
Tools and Equipment:
• Duties require the use of standard medical office equipment, (stethoscope, otoscope, blood pressure cuff, scale, speculum, scalpel, suture, etc.) and office furniture and equipment (e.g. desk, filing cabinet, computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, etc.)
Physical Demands:
• Work involves dexterity enough to perform physical exam, produce typed correspondence, file, and operate standard office equipment.
Travel:
• Some travel is required, and is typically local or regional, to conduct business, or attend or provide training.
Emergencies:
• When public health responds to an emergency you may be assigned duties that are outside your regular job description.
• This may involve responding at any time, including nights and weekends, with possible deployment to locations other than the department.
Education:
• This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in nursing science from an accredited School of Nursing and a Master’s degree in prepared Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and have passed the national certification examination.
• Valid WA State Department of Health (DOH) Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner license and an active Registered Nurse license to practice in WA State.
